i realized i need to save an extra stash of money for amazon.com, i'm going to order shitloads of books for little or no shipping charges, while in canada. my wishlist - i think at least half of them will end up on my shelf. i have to make some space tho, my bookshelf is *full*

Susan Sontag's Regarding the pain of others got my attention with the title. but knowing her (i read approx 2 pages of her classic; On Photography, and think that is enough to classify and analyse her, and what more, to claim to know her) i shouldn't have bothered. as Shalom Freedman reports (book review) the title has little to do with the topic. and he puts it well when he says "As I understand it Sontag throughout her writing life, raised real questions but provided most often inadequate and even morally mistaken answers. " after just reading those 2 pages this is the conclusion i came to, as well. i read several reviews and opinions on this book and i am now certain that although the actual topic is mildly interesting, the way she writes and adds unnecessary tidbits of info in between, is not something i want to try readung through. like, in the book, she will explain why video hasn't replaced photos. she explains that a photograph is the basic visual unit of memory. we remember photos much easier than video clips. and hence, photographs will always be important. now, did uyou just learn something about...something? like war photography? if u did, u can join Susan's fan club and digress from mine.

on another review of this book Jonathan Birge says that "This book will appeal greatly to psuedointellectuals". i could've guessed that.

i guess i just come from a whole other direction than Sontag. and that is not crititisizing her subject of choice (war photography and it's effects etc.), but her attitude, writing style and inability to give her books appropriate titles.

i need a cheapo printer. i own a printer, but it's big, noisy, old and difficult. i have no space to keep it in plus i doubt it's functionality after all these years. do they have cheap, small printers? i don't need to print photos, just a page of text here and there. i need the printer market might not be developed enough for the kind of product that i'm looking for...

i am now going to forcemyself to take photos again - good or bad, i don't care, as long as i get myself started and stuff. i feel inspired. girls, blood, anxiety, violence, men, pedophilia, more violence, guns, self destructivness, loneliness, desperation.... ah, there is no limits!
