i spent way too much money on my first day, i still have 7 to go... i got nice boots, underwear, lipgloss, shirt... selected pics below.
yesterday was fairly interesting. the border control when entering to the states is getting stricter every time i come. with a finnish passport things are fairly smooth tho, i feel lucky when travelling. the bus i took from Hamilton to Buffalo stopped at the border, they went through luggage and all and then we packed ourselves back into the bus and Buffalo is right by the border... little town, sorta gloomy like Detroit but not as much so. i then took a shuttle bus to the aiport. on the bus i met a 50 yr old constructor guy, Herb. we both had hours until our flight, so he suggested we meet in the bar after check-in and he'll buy me a drink. in managed to get a stand-by ticket to an earlier flight so i only had 3 hours to wait. i had Bailey's and Herb checked the beer selection. we discussed politics and whatnot, he was a relaxed guy who appreciated Arnold Schwarzeneggers way of handling things in California. he was on his way to San Diego to meet his kids, he has 5, around my age. on the plane, the 2nd pilot was like a talk show host, there was no separating walls so everyone could see all the way to the front and event the pit as the door wasn't closed. he stood there, talked to the mic "welcome on board everyone, today we're flying to ..." [points to the passengers] passengers respond "NEW YORK!" "thats right!" the pilot says. "who's on JetBlue for the first time? raise your hands" i had to raise my hand among very few other people, and we were welcomed on board. a guy sitting next to me, Kale, wouldn't believe it was my first time. uh huh. hes an engineer, and was on a business trip in Canada. we got along really well, turns out he's born a day before me (march 11), prolly another year tho. and he's a 7th day adventist or whatevrr, u know the religion... so he won't eat pork. and no seafood that doesn't have scales. he has a soft spot for shrimp though, he used to feel guilty about it but not so much anymore. once we got to NYC he offered to drive me to a subway station as he lives in Brooklyn. once there, he wanted to offer me a drink in a bar his cousin manages. his cousin had not believed that Kale went to Canada for business but claimed he went for a girl and bringing me in was a funny way to make him think he was right. again, the american chose the beer. i had a couple glasses of finlandia. i was a sight of some sort and no one would believe i was from finland. oh well. my bf's flight was late, hence i had all this time to do stuff. but eventually i decided that i should head to the hotel. Kale didn't think the subway would be safe for me so he dropped me off to the hotel in Manhattan. the traffic is really fuckin slow and the one way streets... uh, anyway the city looked beautiful in the dark. my timing was perfect, i arrived at the front desk 3minutes before my bf :) he claimed i was drunk. was not.
the suite is alright. artsy like the hotel. some photos below.
