*waiting for the caffein to kick in*

last night, as i watched Anderson Silva (isn't it funny his first name is sort of a last name too?) kick the shit out of Rich Franklin, which i didn't think would happen, but anyway, i got more and more puzzled over the fact that Silva is a brazilian. so what? well, he's black. and then Kev and my bf both tell me there's pleeeenty of blacks in south america. wtf? serious... but, in the investigation it turns out that the countries that mostly profile themselves as 'south american' to me; columbia, brazil, argentina and venezuela, are not all that black. 6.2% of brazilians are black, and 3-4% of colombians and argentinians are black. and venezuelans don't keep count so we might as well forget about them. i admit 6% is more than i expected but it's not "a lot"! Anderson Silva's are a clear minority and that was my point. i went as far as to check the map to see which other countries reside in south america. peru, uruguay, bolivia, ecuador... but they're such minorities as countries and who thinks there are plenty of blacks in uruguay anyway? i think i can rest my case, south americans are by far mostly 'south americans'. from which we get to another interesting "fact"; according to CIA world factbook most of these guys are 'white'. ??? as in, 50+% of brazilians are "white". that doesn't really stem with my perception, any more than black brazilians do. Kev had a point by saying that since ppl are divided into 3 main categories; african, caucasian and asian, south americans fall in the 'caucasian' box... okay, makes sense. yet, they don't write 'caucasian', but 'white'. huge difference. this is not a racist thing, i'm just saying that they're not really white. and white is not better, its just that they're not white. i don't have a word for what they are tho. maybe a new word would be in place; "equator caucasian"? whatever. the guy on the left is what i think as south american color. but, the guy on the right is a brazilian as well, and i admit he's pretty white. confusing. maybe i shouldn't have gotten into this white topic at all. i like Arona's color, plenty...:P (the guy on the left) i just wouldn't pass him as white. whatever. it's all good, we're one happy family.

but, to get back to the black-topic... it was interesting as my bf asked how many percentage of americans are black in my opinion...i figured there's prolly more than i think, like 30-40%...eh... the truth is more like 12%. i'd say they are fairly well represented all around, considering that's just one tenth.

Kev went to Toronto to an improv show... i'm left to wonder what i should eat today. maybe a hot dog from 7-11? but i just decided to start dieting last night. ooo, speaking of which, this Dove thing is nicely done.

i had to cancel a shoot i was supposed to have for tomorrow cos the model dyed part of her hair blue :( i can't handle blue.
