how to be artsy?
this art journal thing has been puzzling me. Tiitta mentioned it and i was like what?! journal---what? so shes been explaining to me, and altho it sounds weird im kind of wondering if theres something for me.
Tiitta borrowed me this book "the Decorated Journal"....which...is intimidating. photos below. instruction on how to bind your own book and how to press and dry old carbonated tea tissues and type on them and plaster them on the pages with acrylic oils and...oh god. i realize its optional, u can do whatever u want, but im not a handicraft person at all. i could never even make decent christmas/birthday cards. glues, glitters, stickers, fabrics... i SUCK. okay, so i have to look for other options. a copy machine and a printer would be really important if i wanted to put something other than hand-made shit in there. and i dont have those - close by anyway. yesterday when i cleaned up i found a huge folder/scrapbook that i had forgotten. its just mag and news articles and photos from them. from the 90s and beginning of this decade. its almost full so i could fill that in any case, but its a different thing. i do think i would use magazines as a material if i did a journal. this is really confusing. i got my own limits and rules and its very hard to break from them.
Tiitta showed me her own art journal too which was really cool and neat, inspiring. so i think i have to leave this book aside and go back see hers and keep thinking. whats also bugging me is that in some parts, this blog serves already serves several journaling purposes. and i am very much in the digital median nowadays, perhaps for the very reason that i was never a handicraft person? u could be both but im not. but some things are nice to hold in hands and to see in real, rather than as photos on a screen. i am trying to find solutions for expanding my blog to serve my journaling purposes better. not sure yet how though.
im in the process of switching my rug again... the black one this time. i just got it half a yr ago but it really collects dust and stuff more than average, it doesnt suite me at all... and besides now im more for color too. something like this:
i have to sell my old rug to get a new one though. and even then i can only afford a cheap one. if that. i have to work more.
