suzi9mm-meme lol
welli kicked myself in the butt, with the help of F, and did one of the "interviews" (for a school research, in Denmark, regarding provocative art...they handle poetry and stuff... me represents photography) that have been waiting forever to be done...
for the sake of later amusement and having nothing else to say right now, i'll paste it here;
1. What is your insperation to do these kinds of pictures?
2. Is there any sort of message within these pictures, and if yes which message?
3. Have you ever recieved any puplic reactions, and if yes what kind of reactions?
4. If any of it contained bad reaction, what was the reaction concerning, in addition to your art?
5. If you were to hold a puplic speech of defence, what would you say?
6. Has any of your models ever been intimidated by the art?
7. Has the puplic ever been concerned wether or not the pictures are staged og reality?
8. Can we use some of your art in a presentation of our research?
9. and can we lastly use any of your statements sent to us in a presentation of our research?
hi
1. i've always been inspired by these topics, death, in its naturalness is everywhere although this society does not want to see it much. i dont think we should be gloomy and sad though, but at least accept that death is a part of life. violence and sexuality then, i think ive just wanted to search and handle those topics because they are interesting for me personally. not to mention pop culture rides on them heavily, makes them symbolism and conception heavy motives.
2. no message. maybe they hopefully make someone feel or think something, thats enough.
3. i get email and comments on my work on the internet, all kinds of really...all kinds :) mostly positive. magazine and internet reviews/stories are mostly positive as well.
4. negative reactions usually evolve around me being a bad person depicting gruesome and sad topics, me being immoral and mad and careless about other people. the point being that those photos should not excist because they are not good for the public to see. i think that sums it up.
5. i wouldnt bother defencing myself against something like i just wrote. no one in that argument will change their mind one way or the other so why bother? but if i held a speech in which id say something general regarding this... it would be about appreciating freedom of speech. and how you can turn your head away easy if you dont want to see what ive created. i dont think my photos have a negative affect on the sensitive youth, based on the masses of feedback i get from them. it might confuse many to see how i combine strong motives, and they may cause negative emotions like sadness or nausea... but since when was it all supposed to be just good and happy? life is very sadness-heavy. i dont mean to make it any sadder, but i think i elaborate and discuss the issues in a tiny way... that might make life easier? for me anyway, it does. i still dont understand violence, at all, though.
6. i dont know or i doubt it. models often come to me when they want to model, so they know what my work is about and i suppose they are alright with it. some are not interested in posing for violent/death-related photos but nevertheless, they come to me. so at least they got an open mind? oftentimes if i approache someone regarding modelling, they are part of a marginal group, and while this may sound a generalization, the marginal tends to be open minded in general than the masses.
7. theres always someone, on the internet, asking "is this real??" but i doubt that deserves and answer. with some common sense at least it should be obvious. forensic biologist Mark Benecke used my photography as an example on a TV show (in Germany) as to how fake blood spatter can look real when done well, but at the same time he pointed out flaws which my work has. i dont mean that the public should recognize these flaws btw, that was just a sidetrack. i think with common sense the answer is right there.
8. yes, sure
9. yes, thats what they are for :)
good luck with the research. i would be delighted to receive any final work just to see what you came up with regarding the topic.
