i remembered my spike and switched it back into my tongue piercing. i switched to the usual ball back when i started seeing F, it got tiring taking the spike off and putting back on all the time...
a super-fancy awarded web design company approached me to make my website for free, in flash. nothing new there but they were smart enough to not insult the current version. which is quite simple for a reason, not by mistake. anyway, web design people are always horrified by it as its so unimpressive and whatnot. i dont think its perfect by any means, but designers want to see flash. its always flash, jesus...
i am a little doubtful as usual, i hope they don't think i would leave the administration and content management to them. that wouldn' make sense, and it would not be free either. and then we come to my worries and issues with flash in the first place. their own website worked on my firefox, but not IE (i had to test of course, i assume their website is a walking ad for their work). maybe im missing an IE update, who knows, but i want MY website to work regardless of a few updates and browsers. it simply needs to be win2000-proof. and i wonder how that would be possible with fancy flash...
okay they said i will have a CMS to manage the site and altho the flash should work for everyone (which i doubt), my old site could serve as a backup, so i don't loose any traffic no matter what. i am definitely curious to see what their team will come up with, so i gave them the "go".
Marianne is in Finland for a holiday, we're meeting up tomorrow, going to see the Dark Knight...
and on friday miss R and i are planning to go see the Anton Corbijn exhibition.

well... possibly the biggest advantage of using flash is that it solves a lot of compatibility issues. as long as people have a decently updated version of the flash player everyone will see the site in exactly the same way even on a windows 98 pc...
and getting an updated version of flash is easier than updating the browser.
i'm not advocating the use of flash, eh! ;)
i still think that fancy and complex isn't always the best solution. simple and fast sites, especially for content like yours, it's the best way to go.
but, at least, i think you can consider the compatibility issue covered :)

hey Marcello. you said it..."as long as people have a decently updated version..." yea, well they might not :( and i know the update is easy and i would think i have all the updates but yet i could not see their site in my IE when i tested. who knows why, but ive concluded that the fancier the site, the more issues showing.
of course everyone should update everything, but they don't... hence i prefer to go "idiot-proof" if possible.
but we agree; fancy and complex is not always the best :)
