the week was exhausting

its pretty crazy ive gotten to the ripe age of 39 without anyone close to me having a baby. my cousin is the only one that's even close, except at the time we were not that close anymore, so. this past weekend though a good friend of mine had her baby. she doesnt live in london so it won't (again) really be super visible in my life, but more than with anyone before still.

facebook (=or rather, its clients) has finally caught up with things and i am seeing ads related to kitchen redesign and other home renovation type of stuff. its taken months of feverish googling and clicking things but here we are. well, im happy at least im being offered stuff i could theoretically be interested in. instead of just baby articles, cheap chinese fashion and expensive art. i know i know "phones listen to us" and whatever but so often looking at the advertising, im not too impressed. if im being listened to, i should be targeted much more accurately - i am disappointed. anyway, i do like to discuss about advertising, social media, data and how we are being tracked and 'used', but i don't like when it's with just anecdotes or vague conspiracy theories. there is enough real stuff out there too, but maybe in lack of anyone really knowing the details, it's easier to make assumptions and build on random bits we've read. confirmation bias is one of my pet peeves. maybe cos i dislike it manifesting in myself, i dunno, but i really dont like when its being used.

i watched some documentaries today and yesterday, besides meeting Burcu for lunch (great day for that, very sunny and warm).
Beyond the Curve - good amusing stuff,  i recommend
Minimalism - interesting (especially featuring a couple moving to a 675 sq ft flat and raving over how amazing it is cos its so small....  hmm?)
Hey Priviledge, It's me, Chelsea - fun and sparks thoughts
Free Solo - a thriller, basically

when it comes to reviews i like to read one or two 5-star ones, one or two 1-2 star ones, and then a few 3-star ones. depending on the amount of reviews i like to focus on the middle, i have this feeling i guess like the most sensible, balanced opinions will be found there.if there are no 3 or 4 star reviews i get suspicious.
