when i only have 24+ some hours to go until my trip i was worried about getting sleep deprived, as i still have so many things to do...but i then figured, hell, i can sleep plenty on the train ;)

the plan is;
helsinki-st petersburg
st petersburg-moscow
moscow-irkutsk (+lake baikal)
irkutsk-vladivostok

and from there a flight to moscow and a night train to helsinki. it's THE train ride in this world. i originally got fixated on this trip when i read Magnus Londen's book about his trip to siberia. since then i've been thinking about it.

lake baikal constitutes 20% of all the warm water in the world, and is the oldest lake as well (25 million yrs) *me wants to see*

the weather report is actually a bit surprising, i think it should be warm in russia atm but guess not. well, it's good i'm from finland so i won't pee in my pants when it goes below 0C :P (it's around 9-15C from st petersburg to vladivostok). i think i'll put more effort into the trousers selection after all. and maybe i should leave my 30SPF sunblock home?

i don't know what books to take with me. i'll go to a bookshop tomorrow, apparently paperbacks are cheap. i'm not big on fiction but i've always thought i should read some of the classics by Tolstoy or Dostoevsky... so this would be the time to do it.
