guests means good times

i was looking at pillowcases and came across a "housewife pillowcase". not sure what the brand is after, but maybe im just not target audience...

im still suspsicious of our robot vacuum. it seems to be going around so randomly... but it's doctors "pet" so at least he is managing it.

ive been very happy about the timer function in our dishwasher. super handy.

we occasionally watch Border Security which is Australian Border Force doing their work at airport, mail centers and occasinally after illegal immigrants. the same tropes seem to repeat in every episode more less, and just based on what i see, i think there are some inconsistencies or concerns that their system is slightly skewed;
1.  if anyone brings more cigarettes than allowed, they are pretty much threatened with jailtime. they tend to get a really hefty fine. i mean sure it's wrong so a fine makes sense and some are obviously bringing them to sell which i can see is next level bad, BUT:
2. the most common  'crime' is people bringing loads of food items that are not allowed. and the border force is really fussy about it, "our sensitive ecosystem" "this could destroy our dairy industry" "seeds are highly dangerous"... ok, fair enough i can see they are a risk. but some people bring luggages full of food, where its obvious its not for personal use but they are selling it to a restaurant or a shop... often the border force even acknowledges this. and the passengers lie about it in the passenger card, saying they have nothing. after all this, they get a 360AUD fine at most. at most. more often just a slap on the wrist. then they keep wondering how these people keep doing the same thing over and over. i wonder...  i mean its a good business, even if you lose the load once a year and pay a fine thats less than the cost of your flights. the cigarette importers are deported and face much more serious consequences, but these bio security threats... meh. i mean seeing how "seriously" they take it, but not really, i might carry my own apples to australia just for laughs. to be fair though, they almost fined a lady who forgot an apple in her handbag...  yet if you bring 5 suitcases full of birds nests and rotten meat and seeds... its kind of the same.
3. anyone with any sort of criminal history risks not getting into Australia ever. like a 50 yeard old who did 1 year of jail time when they were 20 but has since been on the straight and narrow... probably sent back on the next flight. with Australia's history... thats slightly obnoxious, no?
4. occasionally they go after illegal workforce, sometimes finding people at the very farms they (illegally) work at. never do they show or mention anything about the employers though. do employers not have any sort of responsibility in Australia? or is it just the foreigners they are after, anyone with an australian passport gets to do anything they want for their own profit? often illegal immigrants work for poor pay and long days - but the employer is the one making the profit. yet the immigration is interested mainly in how much taxes are lost when these pesky foreigners dare to work illegally... i mean, who employed them and how much taxes are they evading?! i would be willing to assume the employers face consequnces too but since they usually share the overall results of each case, how quickly someone was deported etc... i would think they might also mention "the emplyer was fined 10 000 AUD" if such a thing ever actually happened.

the world is full of poor memes. "poor" being subjective of course and maybe im just not the target audience but i did not think of this as inspiring;
i think its very... today and very american. by today i mean like young millennial i guess... hustling away with their start up over a latte at a WeWork office while trying to become an instagram influencer. which is fine, but someone's gotta serve that latte and there is no reason to look down on the server. what is wrong with helping someone else build their dream if its a job you like? and even if you dont like? its just a very shortsighted meme. dreams come in many shapes and sizes, this meme has a very individualist capitalist view of things.

we have friends coming over, miss R tomorrow and then Arttu next week. im very house proud now so will be nice to show my home to some of my closest friends.

valentines day and doctor is going to night shift so i opened a bottle of wine and i guess i'll just chill. we did watch Peter Rabbit together over chinese takeaway which was cute. emotional film. ive heard some people are avoiding chinese food because of coronavirus... doesnt make any sense, its hard to believe people are that stupid. so the good deed of my day was ordering chinese although i didnt really feel like it.

we tried to watch Marriage Story the other week. it was really good. but so realistic it was incredible hard and painful. i couldnt finish it, even. sad, but its because it was SO SAD!

people named Alexa must be getting tired of the jokes.
