indoor life, day 40

many Amazon deliveries now take 2-7 work days which is weird, like back in the old days. not complaining though, my books etc can surely wait a bit. life overall feels slower actually which is not all bad. the traffic outside is less and quieter, its just not as fast paced as it used to be.

After Life 2 came on Netflix yesterday. i had been really waiting for it. we watched it in one sitting, so i liked it obviously. but naturally i am focused on the things i didnt like as much. i think it seemed a bit rushed with the way things were done? and i didnt like the cheap & easy solutions of pairing everyone up really quick. i didnt see Roxy and the postman as a match even...  and i feel like they added very eccentric characters which didnt feel like they were from the same show. the therapist is the worst. hes not funny and i dont see what he is doing on the show. didnt do much for the plot. June and her son and his theater play and all that was also a bit much to be believable anymore. i wouldve been more interested in the young female colleagues life, now her role seemed to be to smile and look a bit sad in turns. also the brother-in-law...what happened with the wife? instead of showing that, we got shitting on the pseudoscience colleague and chats with the lady at the cemetery. her role was also just to listen to Tony, and dish out a wise phrase here and there - im sure she wouldve liked to share her worries too at times?! what i liked were a couple positive scenes and acts of kindness and the emption that Tony was finally showing. its like cracks on the surface with real him maybe coming out. also the dog was great. and again, overall still worth watching as there are sentiments and feelings i can relate to, but my expectations were quite high and it didnt quite meet them.
re: tv in general, its weird how some reality shows are missing their live finale  as they couldnt shoot it. Voice of Finland, Ink Master, RuPaul's Drag Race for starters.

i was impressed how Shpock reacted quickly to the corona situation. they launched a secure door to door delivery and it works smoothly with the online payment system theyd already launched a few months ago. good timing. i havent been a fan of Shpock just cos its not nearly as popular as Gumtree, but i thouht this was cool. when the delivery hassle & costs is taken off me - i dont mind selling with shipping.

ive been working on my new puzzle and chilling this week, just like every other week. work has picked up which is positive, as my biggest client was hit hard by corona, new projects have emerged. not big stuff but nevertheless something interesting and keeping my head above the water income wise. very positive turn of events. one of the new clients is one ive always been interested in, its a logistics related app - many moving things (literally) so a lot could go wrong! exciting.

i also ventured out this week. went for a short walk at the park with doctor on wednesday when it was really warm and sunny, and after that met with Jessica, standing awkwardly at a spacious yard 2 or more meters between us. i think its supposedly not allowed but i guess after over 5 weeks of being indoors a rule breaker is emerging now? honestly i had strangers pass me closer on the street than Jess and mines social distancing, so i dont feel bad at all. it was nice to be out in the fresh air but im again pretty happy staying indoors.

Canada to me seems to be a weird mix of british bureucracy and american behavior. thats not shade. just watching Nothing to Declare and laughing and shaking my head.

i do like Airbnb but at the same time, i have acknowledged with sadness that it's disrupting local rental markets and affecting lives negatively, and council and cities seem unable to control it. while Airbnb pretends to be cooperative, of course their end goal is profit, so. soooo i have been thinking to myself maybe this corona situation will mend the situation a bit. professional hosts "have to" possibly rent to locals - and i sympathise with it killing the profit margin and expected income but thats the kind of risk an enterpreneurship has? many were breaking the law anyway. Wired wrote this on Airbnb's "enema" this earlier long read article on the professional Airbnb renting scam in London is also great

found this nice new game; I Love Hue. its chill and relaxing and i like colours of course.

Brewdog had a -50% discount on, not sure if it was just for NHS staff or everyone but doctor took the bait and made anorder. i guess the beers are bottled from the tap or something.

im not very interested in sauces - maybe since im just not a great cook -  but when i saw Maktok on Dragons Den i got curious. its a malaysian chilli paste and i loved the enterpreneur so i thought ok lets give a try. it arrived with a HANDWRITTEN note - bloody hell. not a copy of a handwritten note but actually handwritten. name added later, obviously. so sweet i had to put it on the fridge door! also, the paste was so tasty i just ordered a new one yesterday. we added it to a lot of different meals, bit spicy but not too much. i was worried it's one of these "use within 3 days of opening" products but it had a shelf life after opening of like a month or so.

after work yesterday afternoon i got prosecco ready and started working on my puzzle again. brilliant stuff.

i dont know if i linked this article before but it really is something else. Jordan Peterson is a dangerous ass, this particular article just addressess it well i think.
NY Times: Jordan Peterson 12 Rules for Life

this Medium piece on childfree-ness and sadness was thoughtful imo.
