we're spending the midsummer at my summer cottage by Päijänne. just the 2 of us. some more grilled sausage in sight...

i studied the sausage issue a little more. so theres A and B type sausage. A class sausage has to be at least 63% meat. i checked a few and they're usually around 80%. what surprised me is that A class is a new invention. B is the old one, most with around 40% meat, and the rest is..flour or something. and as i reported earlier (or did i?), i COULD tell the difference. and i wondered, why would anyone buy the less meaty sausage if there is a better option. however, being that the B sausage is the original, many feel that it is the only right one (??!). i doubt there could be a debate of the taste. i wanted to check the price aspect as well. B sausage costs about 3,50e/kg, whereas the more meaty version is about 5,50e/kg. so, when you buy the usual pack, which is perhaps 400gr, the difference in price really isnt that noticeable. my conclusion would be that youre an idiot if you buy B class sausage :) unless you're like i was, and don't know about such classifications....

HK sininen - the most popular MEAT product in finland (40% meat). works well cold too, its often on the menu of homeless people. and combined with beer, you have a breakfast/lunch/dinner :)

this wiki article photo features sausages but i don't recognize them, however the article describes scandinavian sausages in detail. in this sausage article, the 6th one from the top, bauerwurst, looks very familiar.
