lost but not found: interest

british photographer Conroy who was injured in Syria said Homs is another Rwanda. but does anyone even blink? no. its been very obvious since it started that no one gives a shit. there is the occasional news piece, but maybe not enough bloody photos to make it media sexy, and even then, maybe no one wants to publish photos like that, it wouldnt be practical if the people got interested, when governments arent. Conroy said that civilians are slaughtered systematically, and we already know how they treat journalists too. that would usually cause an uproar, but not now. i guess as long as the oil in the (nearby) region is safe, 10 000 or 1 000 000 people dead isnt that big of a deal.
"Women, children, old men, young people will just cease to exist, they will cease to exist and in 10 years we will have an investigation and people will say 'how did this happen?'"

the arab spring was so interesting for everyone... both media and the international community. quite quickly nato and everyone else who had fighter jet was in on it, everyone had to jump in. finnish people are still divided on the fact that we decided not to send armed forces, merely some humanitarian support or i dunno what. i am for the latter though, finland has a history and strong know how in peace keeping, peace negotiations and other supportive measures and well, someone has to do it. but so it seems like no one is interested in Syria in any way or form. some leaders wagging the finger doesnt count.

Putin said he might apply for presidency again in 2018. eh, then its time for a 4 yr break again? who even noticed Medvedev has been the president in between. seems more like a puppet. russia has a thing for these crazy long term leaders, dixtators or not, both are much loved.

end of saturday report.
