new camera baby

this week i gave in and picked a used Canon S95 from sahibinden.com, had doctor call the guy and arrange a meeting today. i checked and tested the cam, it was good so i bought it for 500tl/220e.

i immediately felt the 5gr (!) weight difference in my hand, it IS lighter. there are some other small changes too in comparison to the S90 which i had. somehow the power button and ring func buttons are getting mixed up, they were different in S90, i dont know how though and how will i re-educate myself about the button position. maybe i need to put a fabric sticker on it or something else that i can feel. either way it feels really good in my hand. i think im more excited about this purchase than i expected. since i was getting something to replace what i had lost, and with only minor differences, i didnt expect much. but i feel giddy and want to run around with my cam and snap away now.

 
after the purchase i took some comparison shots in a cafe. its not super scientific because they are from slightly different angles and i didnt pay much attention to focus etc. but all are taken with automatic settings.

i think iphone has nice contrast but its the cheap kind, and in dark conditions i know it loses 10-0, thats where S95's 2.0 aperture rocks hard. the 3rd one, Samsung's Galaxy Note doesnt impress in any form. and im of course happy with the shallow depth of field of the S95. hmm im writing like a camera freak, although my snapshots are everything but artsy... i just appreciate the good glass and certain functions that a good pocket cam gives...
