turkish police at work

i got really stumped today...  i was delivered an official looking paper, it said that the guy who stole my phone in 2013 has been caught and will be on trial in november, and that i should be there. (he harassed me on an empty street and when i attempted to call police he panicked, ripped the phone off my hand and ran off). i had turkish telecom close the phone back when this happened, so it would not have been very useful, but im anyway happy to hear its been found.

here its common to hear quite grim stories about the police, i dont mean just historically  or in relation to demonstrations; foreigners trying to report stolen items are often not taken seriously. some women that reported something were later harassed via phone by the very police themselves, messaged on facebook by the policemen and so on. reporting harassment is useless, obviously, i wont even go there. too many shitty examples to mention, but i have heard of 1 or 2 good cases too. i was treated with respect at the station and they certainly took the case seriously, looking for CCTV footage on the street where it happened and so on. later i was presented photos of some possible suspects. anyway, i never expected to hear back from it, so this was quite positive. turkey keeps surprising...

today my foot is at a point where i can basically walk easily without pain or even a limp, so i went shopping with doctor. we found him some grey pants and black dressy shoes (the old ones fell apart), and a summer dress for me but im not sure i like it after all - might end up returning.

a finnish friend living in the UK just moved to a new place, it looks amazing and has a view to the sea. looks nice. i am still a city girl but i can appreciate the serenity of a beach house too...

the restaurants spread all over the sidewalks during ramadan, more specifically for iftar, the fast breaking dinner. its a sort of 'sight' when the prayer call starts and suddenly everyone starts eating for their lives...
