not a guilty pleasure for me - just pleasure
reality tv is sooo frowned upon. to the point where i admit i find it funny. usually the reference people make is "Temptation Island!". thats "reality tv" for most people i think. of course, you need to make some reference but it's befitting that you'd refer to the trashiest thing of the whole genre. reality tv has a lot of trashy bits and a lot of it sells on drama, but there is different kinds of drama. not all of it is the trainwreck schadenfreude kind... i was just watching The Big Flower Fight on Netflix. very light and accessible reality tv. its not for everyone, obviously, but it's also not Temptation Island - not inviting anyone to fail, not laughing at anyones misery or failure, not feeding on drunken slip ups. all reality tv revolves around the human emotion and relationships and our curiosity to see other people and their life and reactions. but dont movies as well, just more eloquently and around fictional things? at the same time reality tv is accused of being scripted. i could talk about the amount and type of scripting too, but thats another story. i have so much respect for movies and tv series that create characters and universes, but i just dont see the point of shitting on reality so hard. as if there wasnt crap fictional tv? im trying to think what was the 'trash' everyone spat on before reality tv. because we've always had something im sure. something fairly popular that many people like and then its a topic for small talk in terms of being a guilty pleasure for some while many find thermselves way above it all. maybe gossip magazines? they still exist but maybe not like in the 90s? not sure. i think its great that there is a range of reality tv, from Temptation Island to ...The Big Flower Fight. and in between so many things, even a lot of hardcore reality haters will find they might have enjoyed Top Gear, The Voice or RuPaul's Drag Race.there is a lot of negative and even abusive in reality tv but most of it is harmless light entertainment that people can use to wind down and even feel good about. i have gotten a lot out of reality tv, besides the obvious pastime, and dont regret it at all. this is where is shrug and smile.
speaking of which, i just found a new reality show on Amazon Prime; Making the Cut. after Project Runway its nice to see Tim & Heidi again at something fun and lighthearted. but what really surprised me is a) they are selling the winning looks on Amazon and b) there are interactive features to it (you can click to see more info about the cast if you take the mouse over the screen). refreshing. very commercial too - but okay why not?
Upload on Amazon Prime is also nice. and me and doctor both really enjoyed The Last Dance on Netflix. i dont care for basketball but it was a well done documentary series, interesting story.
i finished this puzzle last night finally.
picnic with Can & Burcu
i went for a picnic with Jessica too one evening, it was warm and our park is so beautiful.
i dont understand why animal print is so popular in clothes, still. ive never liked it. and it just looks cheap and tacky to me.
random dinner (salmon salad with bread - we love our carbs)
doctor bought me a small puzzle as a gift for no reason. its the front cover of a newspaper on my birth date. somehow during the 4 or so hours i did this i managed to lose a piece - wtf?
one of the new puzzles in my queue. i liked the colours and the gold detail - i am not into large plain areas in puzzles.
