2 more work days before holidays
sleeping has always been an issue. i know, phone should not be used in bed. i had sleeping issues far before mobile phones though. before cordless landline phones even. when i was a kid or young, i just managed with little sleep and randomness. later, eh. ive resorted to OTC sleep aids which are not addictive or dangerous but wtf, im 40, i need to fix this?! so i’m really trying now. the past 2 weeks i had some tough days at work after only sleeping 3-4 hours a few nights. i guess it’s going to be a painful process. but admittedly, after just 2 weeks, not as bad as i expected!!mostly i've slept at least 6-7h. my rules are the usual, i go to bed well before the time i need to fall asleep, like 1 hour before (so 9h before alarm). and i decided phone use is not allowed once im in bed under cover. so i sit at the other end of the bed to use it. and once i lay down, it’s hands off. also, reading a book IS ok, i find it very sleep inducing.
proud for my finnish design items, heh.
we had hopes of going on a last minute trip somewhere warm. after cross-checking countries on UK's travel corridor list, countries where we dont need a visa, and countries that are open to tourism (without quarantines) we settled on Cuba. plan was to test ourselves before the trip, then after trip self-isolate voluntarily for 5 days and test again. and obviously a sort of in-and-out trip to an all-inclusive resort. im glad i kept expectations limited, it seemed just too many things could come in the way. and so they did. with tier 4 going abroad is not just against recommendations anymore, it's proper illegal (without a permission, that is). enforcing the law is probably quite limited, but honestly ive already pushed myself enough with breaking rules - breaking the law is bit out of my comfort zone. doctor feels similarly. and honestly i also dont think Cubans desperately want the new covid strain as a souvenir.... so maybe home at christmas is a better choice. the next time we have holiday is end of Feb, but i really dont see things being very different then. we will reschedule to end of Feb and then we can reschedule again. i think its going to be a long and boring winter. hence a little break in the sun wouldve been welcome. but oh well.
i got Barack Obama's Promised Land from Jess and its really well written! the other night i put on some coffeetable jazz and just spend the evening reading and really enjoyed myself.
found these on post office website by accident. how cool are they?!
im so proud of this boiler cabinet set up i designed. we already kept the old vacuum there. and when we got dyson, i wanted to dit it in there too. so had a handyman add support to the left wall and a hole in the wall for the charging cable, then cover the many pipes with a board cos it jst seemed like a hazard, not to mention ugly. and i add the screw there to hang items. yeah pretty basic but i pat myself on the back.
i bought us another 2 player board game. Pandemic, lol. it takes time to figure out the gameplay, but it is interesting and challenging.
a wonderful surprise christmas gift, also from Jess. these british people, man, they love cards and gifts. but i think im warming up to it.
im loving our sunday walks at the park. today was also really sunny.
i think i should make a list of movies and series to watch during holidays.
